The aim of pilates at Silencito is to help create joyful, balanced movement in every person. Working with you to integrate mind and body through movement, to create inner and outer transformation. This is an ongoing experience that becomes a way of living. Helping to heal and develop wellbeing in the body, mind and spirit.

Pilates is for every body. Young, old, fit, unfit, healthy, unhealthy… from all walks of life. I aim to get to know each person, their needs and goals, to create an uplifting movement experience. Helping every one to enjoy life at their fullest potential. To help you do those everyday things with more ease. Whether walking, working or participating in sport or dance pursuits as a hobby or a professional level, it’s about moving with a sense of flow, balance, peace and passion in every area of your life.

I look at dynamic alignment and include resistance to help create movement with control, increased body awareness and functional movement, whilst decreasing unnecessary effort. The core control that Pilates is infamous for becomes second-nature when there is good alignment, body awareness and controlled whole body movement.

This leads to feeling better, moving well, having presence and a feeling of liking yourself, while enjoying all that life has to offer. Joyful, balanced movement every day is empowering.

The pilates method

Originally created by Joseph Pilates, he called his approach, ‘Contrology’. It is an art and science of control of the whole body and mind, and is for every body. Based on the principles of breathing, concentration, control, centring, precision and flow.

Breathing is life itself! It is used to connect mind and body, create body awareness, to release tension, energise, assist, challenge and nourish the body at every level.

Centring is the inner connectedness of the body. All movements initiate from the control of the whole body and presence of mind.

Concentration is the presence of the mind in all movements to make them more effective and pure, lessening inessential effort.

Control is the ability to maintain direction over the mind and body to create the movement.

Precision is to work with alignment, care and efficient movement.

Flow is to move smoothly with flowing energy and continuous control to create light, graceful movements that feel beautiful in the body and mind.
